- “Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… and Others Don’t” by Jim Collins:
- “Another long pause, and more walking. Then Admiral Jim Stockdale turned to me and said, ‘This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.’ …
“A key psychology for leading from good to great is the Stockdale Paradox: Retain absolute faith that you can and will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties, AND at the same time confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”

- If you’re scared to share the gospel, doubting you know enough, or if you’ve tried without success, don’t give in to doubt. Turn to God instead. Trust that as happened with many stories in the Book of Mormon, those you teach will remember your words when the time is right.
- April 1, 2025
- “The Savior not only understands and feels grief but also feels your personal grief that only you feel. And He knows you perfectly. He knows your heart. So He can know which of the many things you can do will be best for you as you invite the Holy Ghost to comfort and bless you. He will know where it is best for you to start. Sometimes it will be to pray. It might be to comfort someone else. And by the inspiration of the Spirit we can have a testimony of the Resurrection and a clear view of the glorious reunion ahead. I have felt that comfort as I looked down at the gravestone of someone I knew—someone that I know I can at some future time hold in my arms. Knowing that, I was not only delivered from grief but filled with happy anticipation.”
- April 17, 2025
- As we celebrate this sacred Easter season, let us remember the profound love and sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His Resurrection brings hope, renewal, and the promise of eternal life. Through His triumph over death, we are given the assurance that we too can overcome our trials and find everlasting joy.
- May we find peace in His teachings and strive to follow His example of compassion and service.
President Jeffrey R. Holland

Elder Quentin L. Cook

- YouTube 3 Ways to Make Your Home a Place of Gospel Peace | Elder Quentin L. Cook
- San Francisco was a challenging place to live when the Cooks were raising their kids (mass drug use, heated demonstrations against the Vietnam war). The then-current President of the Quorum of the Twelve visited saints in the area and taught three principles that would allow them to survive spiritually even in hostile environments.
- Build Zion in your hearts and homes.
- Be an example, a pillar, a light on the hill.
- Focus on the principles and covenants of the temple. Make those covenants and getting closer to God your main objective in life.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
- April 5, 2025
- “Recently on social media I asked you to share with me what worshipping God means to you. Your comments helped inform my remarks at general conference. I am inspired by the thoughtful answers you sent to me and would like to share a few of them here.”
- Not so much an action, just neat to be able to interact with an Apostle and potentially have your faith impact a GC talk.
- April 18, 2025
- “Consider for a moment the significance of the Resurrection in resolving once and for all the true identity of Jesus of Nazareth and the great philosophical contests and questions of life. If Jesus was, in fact, literally resurrected, it necessarily follows that He is a divine being. No mere mortal has the power in himself to come to life again after dying. Because He was resurrected, Jesus cannot have been only a carpenter, a teacher, a rabbi, or a prophet. Because He was resurrected, Jesus had to have been a God, even the Only Begotten Son of the Father. While we always remember Christ’s suffering and death to atone for our sins, at Easter we celebrate the most wonderful of Sundays, the Lord’s day, on which He rose from the dead. ‘For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.'”
- April 22, 2025
- As we met last week to dedicate the new Music Building at Brigham Young University, I seemed to hear the Lord saying once again, “For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me” (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12). At 171,000 square feet, the Music Building is one of the largest and one of the very best of its kind. This attests to the value that Brigham Young University and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attach to music and its vast potential for good in society and for the blessing of the human soul. The BYU School of Music, with its talented faculty and students, together with this new Music Building and the facilities and tools it provides, are a testament to our belief that it requires effort to refine talent and that, as President Russell M. Nelson has said, the Lord loves effort.

- Another video from a dairy farm (his roots). 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 pm the cows had to be milked. “Sundays, Christmas, no days could be neglected. Obedience is like that. To be true, it needs to be consistent and unfaltering. We would many times work more than our share so another member of the family could pursue something other than farm work like playing at a sporting event or attending a gathering of friends. We learned to sacrifice our own pleasure to help our brother or sister. The savior taught us to care for one another. While I was far from perfect, the workings of our small dairy farm helped me learn how to put the things that were more important ahead of those things that were less important.”

- More of an interesting idea than an invitation. Visiting ancestors’ graves can be a sweet Easter tradition to remind us of the resurrection and draw us closer to our deceased family members.
Elder Dale G. Renlund
- April 16, 2025
- Attended a statue unveiling ceremony of Dr. Henry Eyring at the University of Utah.
- “After President Eyring was awarded a PhD from Harvard University, was a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and was a professor at Stanford University, his father had told him, “Hal, you have a problem. You think that who you are is where you have been. The truth is you are what you can do.” We have observed that President Eyring has taken this caution to heart. He is always concerned about what he can do to accomplish the Lord’s work.”
- “President Eyring said his father had a hard time separating science from his faith. On one occasion when Dr. Eyring was the president of the American Chemical Society, he gave a keynote speech at their annual meeting. Afterward, President Eyring told his father, ‘Dad, I think you bore your testimony.’ Dr. Eyring innocently asked, ‘Did I?’ In the secular unveiling ceremony on Saturday, President Eyring followed his father’s example. It was impossible to separate his testimony of the Lord and His work from his laudatory reminiscences of his dear, late father. What a joyous day this was for all who attended.”

Elder David A. Bednar, “What Are Spiritual Gifts, and How Do They Work?“, Invitations:
- “We should do all in our power to desire and become eligible for [spiritual] gifts.”
- “Our primary desires should be focused upon serving God and His children and not on our own growth and development. Appropriately seeking for and being blessed to receive spiritual gifts and Christlike attributes requires that we ‘get out of the way’ and look beyond our self-centered desires, concerns, and personal preferences.”
- “Receiving spiritual gifts and Christlike attributes requires both commencing and continuing.”
- “Strive in righteousness to receive the spiritual gifts and characteristics that enable us to reach outward to love, serve, and bless others.”
- “In mortality, we are now and always will be imperfect. It simply is not possible to attain righteous perfection in mortality. But we can and should be worthy, improving, repenting, and becoming.”
Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “Easter’s Hope and Promise in Jesus Christ“, Invitations:
- “Please create a quiet moment and place of spiritual sanctuary as you read this message.”
- “See one another with an eternal perspective—with greater love, understanding, and kindness.”
- “[See] our Savior and relationships with greater faith and gratitude”

President Russell M. Nelson, “From the First Presidency: An Easter Invitation“, Invitations:
- “I invite you to think and pray about if there is someone you should forgive. I can think of no better way to honor Jesus Christ this Easter. I promise that as you forgive, the Prince of Peace will bring you peace.”
Elder Quentin L. Cook, “Answers from an Apostle: We Can All Choose Christ“, Invitations:
- “To receive the blessings of the Savior’s Atonement, we must use our agency to choose Christ.”

President Russell M. Nelson, “First Presidency Easter Message“, Invitations:
- “We invite all to come unto Jesus ‘that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’ (John 10:10). Binding ourselves to Him through making and keeping covenants enriches our lives now and eternally. May you find hope, healing, and happiness as you draw nearer to the Savior of the world this Easter season.”
Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “Jesus Christ: The Hope and Promise of Easter“, Invitations:
- “Please create a quiet moment and place of spiritual sanctuary as you read this message.”
- “See one another with an eternal perspective—with greater love, understanding, and kindness.”

BYU Devotionals
BYU – Idaho
Elder Ulisses Soares, “Drawing Strength from the Savior’s Love“, Invitations:
- “Once, Jesus took His disciples to a quiet place to rest and be renewed. Similarly, let us trust in the Savior to help us grow and find peace on our journey throughout life. In the same spirit, let’s trust in the Savior’s capacity to provide us with and embrace the opportunities for growth that our mortal journey offers.”
- “Intentionally study [the Savior’s] life, His perfect example and His commandments, and strive to discover these aspects of who Christ is[. If we do,] we set the ultimate standard for how we should live, the example we should follow, and the commandments we should keep.”
- “Never forget that we are all born with the seed of divinity in our spirits because we are spiritual children of God. This seed spiritually connects us to deity. Through this connection, we can feel the love that emanates from God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and His compassionate atonement.”
- Pres. Nelson – “Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn more about His Atonement, His love, His mercy, His doctrine, and His restored gospel of healing and progression. Turn to Him! Follow Him!”
- “I pray that you may cast off all that hinders you from feeling the love of our heavenly Father and His beloved Son. May you be made whole to the healing power of the Savior. I pray that your faith in Him will grow and that His divine power will become more manifest in your life, both in your home and in your heart. Never forget that the Savior’s loving arms are extended to you at the dawn of each new day as His invitation remains the same, Come unto me.”
BYU – Provo
President Dallin H. Oaks, “Honoring Judge J. Clifford Wallace: A Life of Law, Leadership, and Legacy“, Invitations:
- “Speaking from our commitment to the divinely inspired principles of the United States Constitution, which apply to all men, we believe in the rule of law.”
- Emulate Judge Wallace “who has excelled in every important area of his life…. He is an exemplary patriarch in his family, a renowned teacher in all his Church assignments, and a person unequaled in his commitment to the legal profession and to the administration of justice.”
- Bonus Invitations from A Question of Priorities – J. Clifford Wallace
- Elder LeGrand Richards told him, “Well Brother Wallace, your first responsibility is to your family. The second is to the church. And if you have any time left over, you can earn a living.” Elder Richards expected him to be successful and as such wanted him to understand the correct order of priorities. That interaction informed the rest of Judge Wallace’s life and enabled his tremendous success in all the areas that matter.
- “I found that if I carefully and prayerfully made the most important parts of my life consistent with their eternal worth, I accomplished much more of real value in my life’s endeavors.”
- Bonus Invitations from A Question of Priorities – J. Clifford Wallace
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Joyfully Receive the Unexpected Messiah“, Invitations:
- “Please ask your Heavenly Father for blessings and guidance. Share with Him your hopes, dreams, and desires. But in doing so, make sure that you are not trying to get Him to see things your way. Ask Him to open your eyes to see things His way. That’s when the answers start to flow. That’s when you climb the mountain and begin to see things from a higher perspective—even Heavenly Father’s perspective. ‘Then shall [your] confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and [light and truth] shall distil upon [your] soul as the dews from heaven.'”
- So what do we do when the beautiful, universal, eternal ideals of the gospel clash with the painful, individual, mortal realities of life? There are at least two things you should remember:
- Never give up on the ideal.
- Don’t disregard the real.
- Accept both.
- See your life from higher and holier perspectives through connecting with Father in Heaven daily through scripture study and prayer.
- “Your personal prayers may be simple and plain—and they should be—but they should be heartfelt. They are meant to be frequent but to never become commonplace.”
- Intentionally make time and room for quiet, small, simple but deeply spiritual moments.
- “As you intentionally make time and room for these quiet, small, simple but deeply spiritual moments, you will discover that the Lord indeed knows you. He knows your heart. He knows your name. These moments can be to you like that holy, peaceful moment on a beautiful spring morning outside an empty tomb when a young woman was weeping and the resurrected Jesus called her by name. ‘Mary,’ he said. Can you feel Jesus with His gentle voice calling you by name? Remember, the Savior knows your name. He loves you.”
- “During this sacred Easter week, I invite you to each personally ask yourself:
- “Will I show Jesus Christ that I want Him to be my King?
- “Will I invite Jesus Christ to have His triumphal entry into my life?
- “Will I allow Jesus Christ to change my heart, to lift my vision, and to teach me His higher and holier ways?”
